In the 1850 Census of Yell County, Arkansas is listed Jonathan Williams and family. Jonathan is the father of Robert Harrell Herring's first wife Mary Williams. Jonathan's close neighbors in Arkansas are James Axley, his father-in-law, and Hillery H. Herring. Jonathan Williams is the oldest son of David Williams; see David Williams Genealogy .

1850 census of Yell County, Arkansas - Jonathan is listed with Narcissa and daughter Elizabeth.

Also listed with him are William and Tabitha and Joseph Cosstow.

Between 1832 and 1835 Hillery Herring and his family moved to Arkansas from Tennessee, since son Bright was born in 1832 in Tennessee and daughter Elizabeth was born in Arkansas in 1835.  Jonathan's wife, Narcissa, was born in 1826 in Tennessee and Hillary's son, Bright was born in  Tennessee. Around 1856 to 1857 Jonathan Williams and James Axley moved their families from Yell County, Arkansas to Burnet County, Texas. Jonathan and James can be found in the 1850 Census of Yell County, AR, the 1860 and 1870 Census of Burnet County, TX and the 1880 Census of Bell County, TX. Jonathan Williams (01 Jan 1826 - 01 Mar 1890) and Narcissa (23 Oct 1826 - 03 Feb 1899) are buried in the Mahomet Cemetery in the town of Mahomet, Burnet County, Texas.

Robert Harrell Herring was sent to stay with James Axley and his family in Texas around 1862. Robert later married Jonathan Williams' daughter, Mary Williams. The 1880 Census of Bell County Texas lists Robert and Mary. Next door is his father-in-law, Jonathan Williams and on the other side is brother-in-law, William (Bill) Williams.

Robert and Mary can be found in the 1870 Census of Burnet County, TX and the 1880 Census of Bell County, TX. They continued to live in Bell County, Texas until Mary's death around 1892. Robert's second wife was Prudence and about 1898 they moved to Yell County, Arkansas with Will's sons, Abe and Jim, and daughter, Dell. I believe Mary may be buried in the Mahomet Cemetery close to her parents.

Jonathan Williams (Babe) and Family

Jonathan Williams Jr. and family.

Jonathan Williams Jr., "Babe", and his family taken around 1911. This photo was sent to me by a Williams descendent. Jonathan's brother, Joe Williams, was a part time photographer and took several family pictures. If you look closely you can see that the picture above and this picture have the same backdrop. I believe, however, that they were taken at different times. In the photo to the right, Babe appears older and he is wearing different clothes.

Ira and Albert WilliamWilliams Buggy Ride

Joe Williams the photographer.

This is a trick photo of Ira and Albert Williams, two of Joe's sons. Handwritten on the frame at the bottom is "Ira and Albert Williams" and in bigger writing below it is "Abes Cousins". Al and Lloyd think the handwriting belongs to Abe Herring's second wife. This photo was in the possession of one of Abe Herring's grandsons in California. The second photo is of Joe's oldest son on a buggy ride. We're not sure who the girl is.

Albert Williams was born July 18, 1894 and died Dec. 6, 1917 during World War I.  He was in Battery C 133 Field Artillery.  He is buried at Tobey Cemetery in Burnet County.

James Ira Williams born Aug 31 1892 and died Sep 8 1972.  He was married to Ora Lee Young.  They are both buried at Maxdale Cemetery in Bell County.  I believe he was also served in WWI.

Uncle Bill Williams

Bill Williams

One of Mary Williams' brothers with a prized Morgan Horse. This breed of horse was very expensive but was known for it's strength and endurance. This breed was a real work horse and was used for everything on the farm from pulling a wagon, to plowing, to plain horse back riding.
